Primetime - Thirty-one

I couldn't help but read some of the lamentations written by liberals at Slate.com this week. (In the immortal words of 'Conan the Barbarian:' "Crush your enemies, have them driven from the field before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!") The more I read, the more pathetic it gets. But one article in particular I found really amusing.

We are constantly told by the mass media and Hollywood how stupid and uneducated Conservatives are. The article at Slate.com written by Jane Smiley was entitled "Why Americans Hate Liberals - A Dialogue." The subtitle is what really caught my eye: "The unteachable ignorance of the red states."

So, automatically, if you lose an election by an historic margin, your opponents are stupid. Ms. Smiley goes to state that the Republicans have cultivated and exploited ignorance in our citizens. Really?

What have the Democrats done to educate the masses? Name one effort or program that liberal Democrats have instituted that has resulted in increasing our collective IQ's. I'm waiting...still can't think of one...me, either.

The Democrats have alot to lose if their constituency were to get smarter. Aside from the liberal elite, you know, the condescending, quasi-intellectuals, that have their liberal arts degrees that make them so much smarter than the rest of us, most of the Democrat constituency are uneducated and unemployable. And the Democrats have made sure it stays that way because if they ever allowed their constituents to actually eat the carrot, their sway over these dregs would be lost forever. Conservatives believe that you measure success in helping the poor not in how much money to gave them but in how many you managed to get into the workforce and off of welfare.

Conservatives are not greedy, contrary to Ms. Smiley's piece. Conservatives do expect to keep what they earn. That doesn't make one greedy. What is greedy is the thought that part of the money that Conservatives earn belongs to the government. Only Liberals think that your money is their money.

Conservatives are not mean-spirited. One need only read a portion of Ms. Smiley's article to discern from where the true malice emanates. Conservatives are not blood-thirsty. I think those that believe that a fetus can be terminated at any time for any reason are blood-thirsty.

Ms. Smiley also states that anyone who believes in God is automatically brain-dead. In her eyes, religion is the frontal lobotomy that Conservatives use to keep the masses under control. In her utopia, replacing God with the socialistic system is what keeps the population in check. Under socialism, there is no God but the central government and it purports to provide everything you need, your spirit be damned. I have never figured out though how increasing the number of people who need government assistance and decreasing the number of people with taxable income would work but that is the underlying mechanism for socialism.

I find it funny how Ms. Smiley can put down people's religious beliefs in one paragraph and in the next, start criticizing Conservative morals. For the most part, religious people are moral people. And the converse is true as well - non-believers are immoral. And for all her rhetoric at the beginning of her piece about the violent history of the Conservative red states, she is espousing continuing the liberal fight. I sure am glad that the Conservative side is the ARMED side or this would turn ugly.

She closes her "dialogue" (I thought it took two people to have a dialogue?):
"Progressives have only one course of action now: React quickly to every outrage—red state types love to cheat and intimidate, so we have to assume the worst and call them on it every time. We have to give them more to think about than they can handle—to always appeal to reason and common sense, and the law, even when they can't understand it and don't respond."
Progressives? Liberals aren't progressive. They want to take us back to the failed Marxist policies of the 20th century. Conservatives aren't the cheaters and intimidators either. Who was running around in October claiming that if Bush were elected, there'd be a January surprise? Liberal Democrats. Who tried every method under the sun to try to conjure votes out of pregnant chads in 2000 to overcome Bush's victory margin? Liberal Democrats.

Ms. Smiley's article could have easily ended like this: if you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with your bullshit. Afterall, it is the Democrat way.
