Apparently, I have found one of the many blogs out there that is the polar-opposite to this one. And as my loyal readers here will see as I place this moron in my sights, he has no clue what he is talking about.
The subject of his blog begins with a blurb about New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg crusading against illegal guns by organizing a meeting of mayors about illegal gun trafficking. Yeehaw. Boy-howdy. I think the key words here are illegal and gun trafficking.
This blogger, who ironically calls his blog "Gunguys," went on to quote Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly as saying, “Our shootings are down this year; still, there’s way too many guns." Uh-oh. I think I'm starting to see the anti-gun bias coming out...
"Gunguys" goes on blathering about how several other states' lax gun laws are responsible for NYC's violent crime, blah, blah, blah...
And it’s about time someone tried to influence the state legislators the right way– the NRA’s been doing it for years, and that’s why concealed weapons, background-check free gun shows, and, of course, gun violence run rampant.Whoa! You don't know what you're talking about, "Gunguys"! How do concealed weapons promote gun violence? In every state that has allowed citizens to legally carry concealed weapons, the violent crime rate has gone down. That is diametrically opposed to your contention and is completely supportable with available crime statistics.
Furthermore, there is no such thing as "background-check free gun shows." If "Gunguys" bothered to have ever gone to a gun show, he'd know that. I have never been to a gun show that did not require a background check to purchase a firearm. It's the law - gun dealers have to do the background checks on purchasers. Once again, "Gunguys" proves his ignorance of reality.
Pennsylvania is where the problem is. West Viriginia. Ohio, where the NRA just passed a law that says no local ordinances can override state gun laws. That means that in Ohio, no local jurisdictions can pass laws that keep their citizens safe from gun violence. The NRA doesn't pass laws; the state legislature does, dumbass! The more you type, "Gunguys", the more your stupidity is coming out.
It’s just plain wrong, and if Bloomberg is going to have a hope of ending the violence, he’s got to get elected officials and lawmakers in those states in on the discussion. For too long, the NRA has poisoned their minds with junk about guns being safe (they aren’t) and firearms being necessary (they aren’t either). Hopefully this meeting with create some good ideas, but for things to change, we’re guessing Bloomberg will have to end up taking his message directly to other states’ lawmakers.Well, there you go. The NRA has poisoned legislators' "minds with junk about guns being safe (they aren't)". Sorry, but I'm going to throw the bullshit flag on you "Gunguys" and penalize you for un-Constitutional behavior! Guns are safe. Guns are as safe as an automobile, an airplane, your pocket knife, or any other implement or device that require human interface for it to function.
So, you think firearms aren't necessary? I've already pointed out to you that legal concealed carry laws make violent crime decrease. If private ownership of firearms were abolished, who would own the only weapons? The police - yeah, they'd still have them (until the anti-gun crowd starts whining about why the police carry guns when the citizens are no longer armed...) The military - perhaps we'd still arm our military but we'd most likely be arming them with foreign-manufactured weapons because the home-grown manufacturers have forced out of business by loss of sales.
Wait a minute - could it be that if legal gun ownership were outlawed that even the criminals out there would surrender the weapons they already have illegally obtained? Would criminals see that "Gunguys" is right about guns being bad and needing to get rid of them? Come on, "Gunguys", what do you think? Do you really believe that disarming lawful citizens and having no way of disarming criminals is going to fix violent crime? Will there be a policeman to escort every citizen every day to protect them from illegally armed criminals?
Here's a novel concept - since the common denominator in this equation of violence is the criminal - let's do something about getting the violent criminal off of our streets.
Next time you have a thought, "Gunguys", just shut up.
