Ding, dong, Zarqawi's Dead!!!!

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is dead. Let's say it again: Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is dead. Along with his death, the U.S. military have dealt a severe blow to the terrorists that are killing both our soldiers and Iraqi civilians. The strike at the head of Al-Qaeda in Iraq boosted our morale and yielded documents and information storage devices that are being assessed for potential use against his followers.

Flush with intelligence, the U.S. military moved quickly Friday to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the death of al-Zarqawi, carrying out nearly 40 raids in an effort to stop his terror network from regrouping.

Thirty-nine raids were conducted across Iraq late Thursday and early Friday, including some directly related to the information they obtained from the strike against al-Zarqawi. Those were in addition to 17 raids carried out immediately after the terror leader was killed.

However, despite the good news out of Iraq, which is sorely needed, the liberal news media and their high priests and priestesses in the halls of Congress still couldn't find the silver lining. Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Congressman John Murtha continued to spread their "doom and gloom" speech, couching it with "concern" for our troops.

Pelosi stated:
"[Zarqawi's] death does not alter the fact that our brave men and women in uniform are fighting a war of choice in which the President sent our troops into harm's way without a plan for victory and without leveling with the American people"
Murtha continues his crusade against the Marine Corps, of which he is a veteran. Murtha has all but convicted these Marines that have been accused of murdering civilians in Haditha without a formal indictment nor a trial. This despite ample evidence that the Marines did nothing wrong. This statement, which you probably haven't seen or heard on the news, was from a surviving member of the family that was killed by the Marines for denotating the IED that killed Lance Corporal Terrazas.
A 12-year old survivor of the alleged massacre of innocent civilians by U.S. Marines patrolling Haditha has admitted she had prior knowledge of the plot to detonate an IED as their convoy was passing by her house on the morning of Nov. 19, 2005. In a CNN interview, Safa Younis - who says eight members of her family were killed by U.S. troops - recalled that she was getting ready for school as the Marine Humvee approached. "I was planning to go to school. I was about to go out of bed. I knew the bomb would explode so I covered my ears," the youngster said, according to a CNN translator. "The bomb [then] exploded," she explained. "The bomb struck an armored vehicle. I don't know if it was a Humvee or an armored vehicle. When the bomb exploded, they came straight to my house."
That certainly doesn't sound to me that these people were innocent civilians but apparently in the minds of Pelosi and Murtha, anyone that seeks to kill our troops should be applauded.

It is unfortunate that our country can be so unappreciative of the efforts and sacrifice that our best and brightest young people in the military put forth on a daily basis to secure the freedoms we enjoy. On a day that we should all be celebrating the elimination of a major roadblock to peace in the region, we still have cretins like Murtha and Pelosi that will politicize the event and continue to seek to undermine our troops' efforts.

I will say this with certainty, however: I wish Nick Berg were alive today to piss on al-Zarqawi's grave. But I'll be happy to do it for him.

By the way, Osama, you are next...
